Request to Conserve Water Effective Immediately (August 6th)

The Town of Marystown is urging residents and businesses to conserve water effective immediately. Due to the hot weather and lack of rain, the water level at Clam Pond has dropped and is continuing to drop. Without the cooperation of all residents and businesses, the Town may be forced to implement further restrictions to ensure water levels do not drop dangerously low.

Excessive water usage has placed a high demand on the Town’s water supply. The Town is asking residents to discontinue the use of water for the purpose of watering lawns and plants, washing cars and similar activities. Residents and businesses are also asked to conserve water during regular daily hours. This restriction will remain in effect until further notice.

The splash pad will be shut down today until further notice.

This situation has been made even more urgent given the dryness of the area and the threat of wildfires in the province. A fire was left abandoned yesterday on the North West Trail. Luckily, two youth discovered it and reported it, preventing a major disaster. The Town and the Marystown Volunteer Fire Department cannot stress how important it is to conserve water and adhere to to the fire ban. Everyone needs to do their part.

The Town of Marystown would like to thank everyone for their cooperation in this matter.
