Residents are advised to turn off the breaker to their hot water tanks prior to the main waterline shutdown on Tuesday, December 9th.
Following the restoration of water, residents should follow these steps in the order listed:
• turn on the hot water faucet to ensure the tank is bled of any air
• wait for the hot water tank to fill completely – the hot water tank is full when cold water flows from the faucet
• turn the breaker back on
Following these steps could prevent a dry fire which could burn out the element of the tank as the Town cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused to hot water tanks during the shutdown.
