Voters who will not be in Marystown to vote at either the Advance Poll on September 20/25 or on Election Day on October 2/25 can apply to vote by proxy. This means that a qualified voter in Marystown can vote on your behalf.
Only one proxy certificate can be issued to any one person. The proxy certificate cannot be used at the Advance Poll. On Election Day, the proxy voter must present the proxy certificate to the Deputy Returning Officer at the polling division where the impeditive voter (the person unable to vote) is entitled to vote in order to carry out that vote. This means that if the proxy voter is voting for someone who lives on Reid Crescent, the proxy voter will need to bring the proxy certificate to Poll No. 2, even if he/she is not a voter at that poll.
Remember that a proxy voter is voting on your behalf – ensure he/she understands how YOU want to cast your vote.
Proxy applications are available at the Town Hall and must be returned by 4:00 p.m. on October 1st. Proxy certificates not picked up by Election Day will be left with staff at the front desk for pickup.
