Important Announcement from Department of Transportation and Infrastructure affecting Marine Drive

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has released a new policy regarding paving of provincially owned roads within communities. This information will be applied to Marine Drive as it is currently under construction.

The new policy outlines measures aimed at protecting newly paved road surfaces, including:

• Restrictions on cutting into newly placed asphalt within the first two (2) years following paving;
• Limitations under the Municipal Capital Works Program for reinstatement funding where pavement is less than ten (10) years old;
• The need for municipalities to coordinate any planned water and sewer work prior to paving activities.

The Town of Marystown would like to advise residents and developers who may be planning to connect to existing water and sewer systems in the Marine Drive area within the next two (2) years that any required excavations or connections must be completed prior to the paving operations. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Director of Operations & Public Works, Randy Brockerville at [email protected]
