This is a permanent full-time unionized position, which reports directly to the Director of Finance & Administration.
The primary functions of the Collections Clerk include the collection of outstanding accounts and entering into various payment arrangements with taxpayers to satisfy outstanding accounts.
The job is broken down into several broad areas of responsibility outlined as follows:
- Collection of Outstanding Accounts
- Contacting tax payers, implementing payment plans, implementing collection procedures, dealing with collection agencies, reducing services for tax arrears, preparing land sales
- Administrative Support for the Director of Finance and Administration
- Relief and Assistance to Other Staff
- Office Work and Other Clerical Duties
Candidates must have completed a university degree or two-year diploma in the area of business administration, accounting or an equivalent accounting certification. Experience, knowledge and training in cash handling procedures and collections in a municipal or other professional environment would be an asset. Functional knowledge and experience with electronic accounting systems and software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office) and utilizing such technology in day-to-day operations would also be an asset.
